Prayer & Salvation

Prayer is an important part of our relationship with Christ, it is our conversation with God!

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

This well-known creed lies at the basis of most other religious statements of belief. Although it bears the name of the apostles, it did not originate with them. It was written after the close of the New Testament, and it held an important place in the early church. It is our statement of faith as Christians.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker Of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, bom of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. The third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

A Prayer For Salvation

The Prayer of Salvation also known as the Sinners Prayer is a prayer one would say to repent from sin, ask God for forgiveness, confess belief in Jesus Christ and accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. We receive Salvation by grace and through faith in Christ. There’s nothing you did, or ever can do, to deserve it. Salvation is a free gift from God. All you have to do is receive it!

A simple version of the prayer:

Dear Lord, I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself only. I am sorry, and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give it to you. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”’

Romans 10:9-13 (NIV)
